Connect ChatGPT to RISR

Talk to ChatGPT and watch your RISR project change. Ask it to build something, change it or explain it, in your own words.

ChatGPT is an AI service made by OpenAI. RISR doesn't supply it: you need your own account with OpenAI, and OpenAI may charge you for it.

This guide is a courtesy to show you how to connect. It isn't a promise that ChatGPT will work with RISR.

Before you start

  • You need a RISR account with RISR Pro.
  • The RISR app, signed in to that account.
  • A ChatGPT plan that lets you add a custom MCP server, used on the web. Which plans allow this is OpenAI's to decide. OpenAI's instructions
  • RISR open and on screen on your iPhone or iPad while ChatGPT works. ChatGPT changes the project that's open there.

You'll do three things: turn the connection on in RISR, add RISR in ChatGPT, then say yes on a page that opens. After that, ChatGPT can read and change the project open in RISR, and you'll see the changes as they happen. You can disconnect any time: the last step shows how.

Start with a new project, or one you don't mind changing. You can undo many of its changes, but not all of them.

When RISR isn't on screen, ChatGPT can still read your project, but it can't change it unless RISR is playing sound, and it can't start sound or recording.

Steps

  1. RISR Pro

In RISR: turn the connection on. Tap Assistant and connections, the sparkle at the top left, then Assistants. Turn on Your AI assistant. RISR shows you what that allows. Read it, then tap Turn on.

    • Assistantsin the Assistant window
    • Your AI assistantthe card's switch
    • Turn onafter you've read what it can do
    • RISR’s address for your AI appon the card, with Copy, once it's on

You'll see RISR's address, with a Copy button. You need it next.

  2. RISR Pro

In ChatGPT on the web: add RISR. A custom MCP server is how ChatGPT reaches another app. Open Plugins, choose +, then Add custom MCP server. Name it RISR, paste RISR’s address (copy it from the card, or from here), choose to sign in (OAuth), then choose I understand and want to continue, then Create as a plugin.

    • Add custom MCP serverunder + in Plugins
    • Create as a pluginat the end

  3. RISR Pro

A page opens, asking: Connect ChatGPT to RISR? It lists what ChatGPT will be able to do. Read it, then tap Allow.

    • Allowon RISR's page
  4. RISR Pro

Sign in to your RISR account if it asks, check it's the right account, and tap Continue. You're back in ChatGPT, connected.

    • Continueon risr.app

If the account doesn't have RISR Pro, nothing is connected and the page says so. If a page says Can't connect, go back to ChatGPT and connect to RISR again.

  5. RISR Pro

In a new chat, type @ and pick RISR. Then ask something like "What's in my RISR project?" or "Add a button that plays a sound when I tap it."

    • @in the message box

To hear what it makes, turn on the engine in RISR.

These steps are OpenAI's and may change. OpenAI's instructions

  6. RISR Pro

To disconnect ChatGPT later, open Assistants in RISR again and tap Remove beside it.

    • Removebeside ChatGPT, in Connected assistants

You can connect it again any time from ChatGPT.

Once connected, ChatGPT receives what you let it read in RISR, and OpenAI's own privacy policy applies. See Remote access and connecting your AI assistant in our Privacy Policy.

For connecting AI, RISR provides support for the standard Model Context Protocol (MCP), and the relay at mcp.risr.app that the app connects through. That's the extent of what we provide.

OpenAI can start, stop or change its service at any time, and these steps may then differ.
