Use your own AI service

Use an AI service you already have, or one you run yourself, to build in RISR's chat.

Before you start

  • RISR Pro on your RISR account.
  • An AI service that works with OpenAI's chat API, like OpenRouter, or Ollama on your own computer. You need its address, its key if it needs one, and the name of the model to use.
  • With Ollama, set it to accept connections from your network first. Ollama's instructions

You fill in three things once: the service's address, its key and a model. After that, what you type in RISR's chat goes to that service, and it builds in your project.

With OpenRouter: Service is https://openrouter.ai/api/v1, Key is a key from your OpenRouter account, and Model is the name of one of its models, like anthropic/claude-haiku-5.5.

With Ollama on a computer on the same Wi-Fi: Service is http://, the computer's address and :11434/v1, like http://192.168.1.20:11434/v1. Leave Key empty, and for Model use a model you've downloaded in Ollama, like llama3.2. Ollama has to be set to accept connections from your network, and the first time, your iPhone or iPad may ask to let RISR use the local network: tap Allow.

Steps

  1. RISR Pro

Tap Assistant and connections, the sparkle at the top left, then Chat.

    • Assistant and connectionsthe sparkle at the top left
    • Chatin the Assistant window
  2. RISR Pro

Fill in Service with the service's address, Key with its key (leave it empty if it doesn't need one) and Model with the model's name. There's no Save: what you type is kept.

    • Servicethe address, often ending in /v1
    • Keyunder Service
    • Modelunder Key
    • Your Providerthe line at the top of Chat, to see the fields again

Once they're filled in, they fold away. To change them later, tap Your Provider, the line at the top of Chat. The key stays on this device and never syncs. A plain http:// address works only on your own network, like 192.168.1.20 or name.local. Anything else, a VPN address or a server online, needs https://.

  3. RISR Pro

Tap Test. When it says it reached the service, it lists the models it has: tap one to fill in Model.

    • Testunder the fields
  4. RISR Pro

Type what you want and send it. The first time, RISR asks whether to connect to that service and shows where your messages will go. Tap Connect.

    • Sendthe paper plane beside the message box
    • Connecton the question RISR asks first

Your messages, any images you attach, and the screenshots and project details it reads go from this device straight to that service, with your key. RISR doesn't receive them. The service's own terms and privacy policy apply.
